Here there is no Gentile or Jew, circumcised or uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave or free, but Christ is all, and is in all. Colossians 3:11

About us

Filadelfia is an evangelical church in the scandinavian pentecostal tradition. We’re the largest congregation within our denomination which consists of 10 independent churches.

Our congregation was founded in 1936 and we’ve been serving our city, and the towns around it, ever since.

In terms of doctrine we are very typical of churches within the evangelical protestant stream of Christianity. We believe the Bible is the word of God, we believe Jesus is the way God and we believe that every person is in need of salvation. We emphasise the role of the Holy Spirit in the daily life of the believer and we believe in the power prayer. We seek to be a welcoming church and we hope that those that visit us will feel at home. The main service of the church takes place on Sunday at 11.00, translation is provided via headphones.

Services in English

For over a decade now there has been ministry to those that feel more comfortable speaking english than Icelandic. In the beginning we had a bible study in english, but today we have services every Sunday at 14.00. The services take place on the adjacent to the main sanctuary.

The congregation of our international church is very diverse, some are residing in Iceland long-term, others are passing through, but there is a warm sense of belonging and of unity.

There are prayer-meetings every Wednesday at 19.00 in the prayer room on the middle floor. If you are interested in keeping up with the international church, find us on Facebook. Just look for Filadelfia International Church, Reykjavik.
